California Climate

Funny, I was at the car wash and my aunt Shirley called to see how I was. She asked if we've been scared away yet with this climate. We've been here just about 2 months and have felt 3 earthquakes and now these unfortunate fires. Which by the way, we are only effected in the air quality sense, which isn't so grand, but the least of concerns. It's been very windy here and our pool very unswimmable. We've closed our windows and are only outside to walk from the condo to the car. 950,000 people have been evacuated in surrounding counties from their homes and 8 hours before hearing that is was just over 300,000. I don't feel frightened at all, when you watch television you can see what a joint effort people are putting in and that makes me feel very pleased.
I saw a sign on the freeway today saying: 'Fire evacuees call 1-800 for information about lodging..." Or something along those lines. It feels real and surreal at the same time. I've been in touch with friends living in La Jolla and San Diego and their safe and one is got friends staying with him.
Hopefully the winds will blow up and out.
