Today Alison accompanied me to Pasadena. I must say that I CANNOT wait until they come to the Rose Bowl, they meaning the Michigan State University Spartans! It will be some good stuff when my Green and White blood is flowing in California.
GO SPARTANS!

Part Time Work
Well, I got a part time job working at a local clothing store and start on Friday. It is rather anti-climatic. I am super happy I will have some income and something to do. On the other hand, I need full time with benefits.
But it's great in the meantime and the people seem really cool, so that will make it fun!
Other than that, not much else to report other than we had our first dinner invitation and we had to decline because I work on Saturday:( ARGH! Bittersweet.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Worn Out Wallet
Well yesterday some good stuff happened. Ali and I went to see the new movie with Jodie Foster in it, and it's name is "The Brave One", and it was good! Then we got back and hopped in our hot tub, and some of our neighbors were there. That was awesome to sit and chat with the peeps. Anyhow they've lived here NINE years, says a lot about our community, eh?
Anyhow we got some bills in the mail, and I just thought I'd share these amounts. So here they go;
Cable/Internet: $102.64
Gas: $96.46
Electricity: $218.07
The last one of those is the KILLER! However, Alison and I changed the way we were using the AC, but apparently to late. I'm just scared as to how it shall be when we go home for X-mas, because we will have adjusted fully to the Cali weather. Anyhow, all is well, I got paid, and that check is literally gone by means of storing it properly...so that it is not consumed in any foolish way. I cannot wait for my signing bonus, however...once again it will just be gone that day. Life, what a trippy place. When I was a TA I gained new respect and appreciation for professors and now the same has happened for adults, especially my mom and dad.

Job Hunting continues
I can't wait until I can stop blogging about this topic! Yesterday I had an interview at a clothing store that I really like and will hear from them tomorrow either way. Today I had an interview with the city and I was pretty nervous, but had my power suit on. The interview consisted of a panel of 3 and lasted maybe 10 minutes. Probably the shortest interview I have EVER had. I guess the know what their looking for. It would be cool if it's me. But, as usual, I walked away unsure. I believe I did the best I could and eliminated most of my 'ums and ahs' but it's always hard to know. So with that I let go and I will know either way by the end of the week.
I have an interview next week with an agency I am a super supporter of and feel very strongly about and I am really looking forward to it. I have dig for a writing sample to email them today.
P.S-HGTV is my favorite!

Spending
Well the Vincent home spending is now starting to fall off on the fixed expenditures. We dropped another approximate four to five hundred on phone stuff, hamper, new shelving, etc., etc., etc. Thank God for Uniden and Ikea! I'm happy nearly everything is finished. The last thing left to buy is a dining room table and the chairs that accompany it!

Finances
Alison and I lived in our last home for four months. We paid a full rent for 20 days, and we didn't even think twice about it. After looking at my Student Information account I got a pleasant surprise. Apparently we are get $264 back, and that is very nice! I am just happy that things are balancing out, fairly. In addition, I'm really happy my weekend has arrived!

See...
I went to get the mail and saw a letter addressed to me by the city of Brea. It was from the Civic Center which is our city hall. I had applied for a position with the city. I figured this was a reject letter. BUT, alas it is a letter stating I passed the initial screening process. The next phase is the oral appraisal interview. Which I call to set up a time for my interview next Tuesday!!! Yay, there is still hope on the horizon. I knew that, but I was beginning to wonder.
Hip hip hurray.

Kinda Bumbed
Well, I am a little discouraged because I didn't get the call I was hoping for. But life moves on. The job search continues and the more I do, the closer I get and the better I will feel.
There are always opportunities and I just have to find them.
Thank you for everyone's support.

Satisfaction
Yesterday was very good, for me and Alison. We had spent 24 hours a day together (-some hours for my meetings). So I was used to being with her by my side. However, at BC...she's not by my side. But spiritually she is by my side 24 hours a day, whether she realizes it or not. The true is same that I'm with her, no matter when or where. We are at the final physical point of this venture, as in Brea. I've started work, which is AWESOME. Now she's hitting the streets even harder, so she too can start work.
But it was nice to come home to a quasi-housewife. I deeply appreciate what she did while I was gone!

Day One
Day one went well and I'm super stoked about this job! I cannot wait to come up to speed on stuff, no doubt! My feet have been brutalized by standing, so omg. It stinks because I need some new gear, but don't have the energy to go. Alison got stuff pretty hammered out with insurance for us, but I have to close the deal.
Now I have to swim through the sea of stuff that is my insurance and it's killing me. I've got a stack that goes up 18 inches for 3 policies. I'm now leaning on the PPO through BC. I've got one month to finalize, so all is well.
Life is far different then it has ever been in my life!

Josh's Big Day!
Well, as usual I think Josh slept better than me. I was so anxious and excited it took me a little bit to fall asleep. Going through my head, 'ok, he's got this, and he did that...' Pretty exciting stuff!!!
So this a.m. after he got duded up we wanted to post these pics of him so all of you could see how handsome he looks going into BC!
I am so proud of him and all of this is somewhat surreal. We have it pretty darn great!!!
Now, if I am offered the job I am wanting I should get a call today. If I don't hear from them, the job was offered to someone else. But, if I don't there will be something else out there better suited for me, right?
peace

Day One at Work
Well in 7.5 hours I'm starting to work, well going through orientation to be truthful. I of course procrastinated on the paperwork, as I do. And I'm confused by the California tax stuff. This is due to them asking me questions about my last tax year, and I've made $0 in California, so I do not see how that applies to me. Therein, I'll chat with the HR peeps tomorrow morning.
This new thing in my life is the best and brightest, however it's a little stressful. I'll be implementing myself into a true work environment. So let me count it off;
1. I've got the best girl I've ever known, who ventured out west with me...omg
2. I've gotten nearly 100% through my thesis and have little left to do so that I've earned a Masters in Science with focus in Packaging
3. I've landed a full-time job with a big wig company, that is very good to me!
4. I've found a wonderful place to live, with much goodness about it!
5. I feel at peace at at home, wherever I am...due to my fellowship.
What makes my life so good? As kooky as it sounds, it is God as I understand him! I have no locked in definition so that anybody from Malik, to Carol, to David, believes in the same principles as I do. So unity stands, Amen!
Thank you to all that have assisted me in bettering my life!

Adsense
Well I just thought I'd let everyone know that I put our blog up and we'll have ads coming up on here. I figure it's an easy way to earn $$$, on the side.
Stir Crazy
I am attempting to keep my sanity by keeping busy unpacking and swimming and applying for j-o-b-s. But I am beginning to feel crazy! Too much of the same thing day after day, which requires no schedule or routine, ARGH. I am ready to work!!! I am getting bored with the same ol' shtuff. I almost feel it's not fair to complain because I know I have it so good. But I think the newness of this environment is wearing off and I am needing to get on with life.
I know everything will work out and it may not be in the exact way Alison wants it to work, but it will in one way or the other.
Oh, and like Josh wrote, we had a little quake this a.m. I was making coffee and our ginormous fridge shook a bit back and forth. I continued to shake for a little while. I interrupted Josh and his meditation because it was spooky and needed to confirm he felt it. It wasn't a big deal, but it was our very first experience and we got a little freaked.
I will be posting some pics of our fun in the pool a few days back and the creatures that live around it.
Til then, love to all of you!

Tectonic Plates
Well this morning I was sitting in our spiritual room having started my first meditation after prayers, and the flame of the candle I was observing started moving funny. Next thing you know, my butt is moving funny. I tried to dissolve my fear that our TV had fallen over, and I did so...sort of. I finished my meditation focused on topics of the books and gazing into the tip of the candles flame. It was semi calming, to say the least. But it couldn't wipe my fear of damages to electronics entirely.

Garage Man
Well during the process of unpacking we were simply taking the boxes downstairs into our garage. We had quite an accumulation of boxes, of various sizes. The car was seriously parked in a kingdom called boxland. So last night after we got home I cooked dinner, I then went downstairs with the purpose of sorting through the keeper boxes, as in storage boxes and the throwaways, if you will. So every empty box, with exception to wardrobes is broken down and stored neatly. This makes me VERY happy!
